Our Craftsmanship & Materials

We are very proud to work very closely with Ireland’s leading Hahnemühle Certified Fine Art Print Studio – Fine Art Print Studio Ireland

All of our Fine Art Giclée Prints are bespoke printed-to-order, made using Hahnemühle Photo Rag® 308gsm Fine Art Paper – a beautiful organic exhibition museum archival quality paper, with archival quality pigment inks.

Our prints come pre-mounted and these are bespoke made to the highest standards from museum archival quality acid-free mountboard. They also include a 5mm backing board.

Please note – frames are not included with our artworks, unless otherwise specified or agreed.

Print Specifications

By default, all our artworks come with museum quality hand-crafted mounts and backboard, so they can be simply popped into your frame of choice.

All advertised sizes throughout our shop are based on the external measurement of the mount (unless otherwise specified).

To make life easier for our customers, we have standardised our sizes as far as possible. For example: 12×10 inches; 12×12 inches; 16×12 inches, and 20×16 inches – all of which are very easy to find frames for.

MOUNT SPECIFICATIONS

Our expertly hand-crafted mounted Fine Art prints are vacuum backed with museum quality 5mm thick foam backing boards, to ensure stability, longevity, and also ease of framing and hanging.

MOUNT WIDTH – All standard mounts are cut with a minimum width of 45mm.

MOUNT WINDOW – As seen on the example artwork on this page, accompanying this description, there is a minimum reveal of 5mm of white paper print border around the printed image which is be visible from the front face of the mount. Sometimes this white border may be larger on two sides depending on the aspect ratio and cropping constraints of the artwork.

A LITTLE NOTE ABOUT FRAMING & FRAMES

Frames are not included with our artworks. However, there’s such a large variety in colour, size, shape, price etc to suit all tastes and budgets – and all these are very easy to source.

Owing for the need to accommodate the natural expansion of materials, frames (or decent ones!) allow 3mm of space between the glass and the inside of the frame, so please ensure that your Jack Thompson Mounted Artwork sits comfortably within when choosing a frame. Please always handle with care when framing. See further notes below on caring for your piece of Jack Thompson Art.

For further information on the sizes of any specific artworks, please refer to the product details on each of the corresponding shop pages.

Please Note: Room Mock-up’s throughout our website are purely for illustration purposes and to give a sense of our products in situ.

We endeavour to create an accurate representation of our Artworks; their sizes and specifications on our website. However, owing to differences in the displays of varying devices and such like, they may not always represent a completely accurate view of how the physical prints will look.

Caring For Your Artwork

To ensure the longevity and quality of your Jack Thompson Artwork, we recommend following the care instructions below which are also provided with your piece of artwork:

– When handling the artwork, ensure your hands are oil and cream free as both have the potential to stain;

– To avoid creasing the paper, use both hands to lift the prints, placing hands palm up underneath the print to lift;

– Do not rest anything on the print surface as this could mark the paper;

– Hang in a place with good natural light avoiding direct sunlight wherever possible, to avoid it fading over time;

– Alternatively use a spotlight or two to light your artwork;

– Keep in the acid free protective paper until framed.

Limited Edition Prints

Our Limited Edition Signed Prints are rather special and something to forever cherish.

We provide Certificates of Authenticity exclusively for our Signed Limited Edition range of prints. The certificates include the edition number of the corresponding piece of Art.

They are also embossed with the official stamp of Jack Thompson Art Studios, and/or, signed by Jack Thompson.
