Our Craftsmanship & Materials
Introduction
Please refer to the information on this page for details on Print Specifications; Mounted Prints; Our Acrylic Panel Prints; Framing; Caring for Your Fine Art Prints; and Our Limited Edition Fine Art Prints.
Please note – For full information on the size and specification of any given specific artwork, please always refer to its accompanying product details in the relevant gallery shop page.
All of our Fine Art Prints are bespoke printed-to-order and made using either Hahnemühle Photo Rag® 308gsm Fine Art Paper – a beautiful organic exhibition museum archival quality paper, with archival quality pigment inks, or 5mm thick High Gloss Acrylic Panels with hidden wall mount fixings.
Jack Thompson Art – all of Jack Thompson’s artworks in our gallery shop pages come with Museum Quality Hand-Crafted Mounts and Backboards, so these can be simply popped into your frame of choice! Please always check the product description to establish whether your artwork comes with a Mount & Back board.
Unless otherwise specified, all mounted artwork advertised throughout our gallery shop are based on the external measurement of the mount-board.
James Pearson Art – all of James Pearson’s Giclée Fine Art prints do not come with mounts and are shipped in a sturdy protective tube.
James Pearson’s High Gloss Acrylic Panel Prints come ready to hang. No frame required.
Mounted Prints:
Those of our expertly hand-crafted mounted Fine Art prints that come with mounts are also backed with museum quality 5mm thick foam backing boards, to ensure stability, longevity, and ease of framing and hanging.
MOUNT WIDTH – Unless otherwise specified, all standard mounts are cut with a minimum width of 45mm.
MOUNT WINDOW – As seen on the example artwork below accompanying this description, there is a minimum reveal of 5mm of white paper print border around the printed image which is be visible from the front face of the mount. Sometimes this white border may be larger on two sides depending on the aspect ratio and cropping constraints of the artwork.
A Little Note About Framing:
We like to keep our costs down for our customers, and given the logistics of shipping framed artworks, frames are not included with our artworks and prints, unless otherwise specified or agreed with us ahead of placing an order.
However, to make life easier for our customers, we have standardised our sizes as far as possible. For example: 12×10 inches; 12×12 inches; 16×12 inches, and 20×16 inches – all of which are very easy to find frames for.
There’s such a large variety in colour, size, shape, price etc on the market to suit all tastes and budgets – and all these are very easy to source.
We do strongly recommend using a well-established professional framer to frame the artwork you buy from us.
A Few Framing Tips For Our Mounted Artworks:
Owing for the need to accommodate the natural expansion of materials, frames (or decent ones!), please ensure you allow 3mm of space between the glass and the inside of the frame, so that your Mounted Artwork sits comfortably within when choosing a frame. Please always handle with care when framing. See further notes below on caring for your new piece of artwork.
Our Acrylic Panel Prints
Our High Gloss Acrylic Panel Fine Art Prints by James Pearson are the ultimate choice for that contemporary WOW Factor in your home or space!
Acrylic Panel Specifications:
In order to ensure and maintain their quality, strength, rigidity and durability, all of our Acrylic Fine Art Panel Prints by James Pearson have a rear hidden aluminium frame and come in varying thicknesses depending on their size, as follows:
20 x 20 inches – 5mm depth
24 x 24 inches – 5mm depth
30 x 30 inches – 8mm depth
36 x 36 inches – 8mm depth
The edges of your panel will also be precision polished to give a seductive satin finish.
Comes With Hidden Wall Mount for Easy Hanging:
The hidden wall mounting point on the rear hidden aluminium frame of the 5mm deep panels, allows your Artwork to be hung from a single point, with no visibility of fixings. In the case of 8mm deep panels, we strongly recommend utilising the two points of fixing when hanging your artwork.
Please hang from a sufficiently large wall hook, or screw with washer or sufficiently large head. The type and size will depend on your wall construction in order to prevent the print from being accidentally knocked from its mount.
Important Notes:
– Do not install at height or where falling may cause damage or injury.
– Fixing to walls should be carried out by a competent person and it is your responsibility to ensure correct and safe fixing of your Acrylic Panel Print.
– Hang in a place with good natural light avoiding direct sunlight wherever possible, to avoid it fading over time. Alternatively use a spotlight or two to light your artwork.
– Whilst our Acrylic Panel Prints are quite robust, please do not rest anything at all on the surface of your Acrylic Panel Print as this may mark and spoil it.
Caring For Your Fine Art Prints
To ensure the longevity and quality of your Giclée Fine Art prints, we strongly recommend following the care instructions below which are also provided with your piece of artwork:
– Avoid handling your artwork, and keep it in the acid-free protective paper until it’s framed;
– If you do have to handle the artwork, please don’t touch the printed images at all. Ensure your hands are oil and cream free as both have the potential to stain. Ideally – handle with clean cotton gloves;
– To avoid creasing the paper, use both hands to lift the prints, placing hands palm up underneath the print to lift;
– Do not rest anything at all on the print surface as this will mark and spoil the paper and print;
– Hang in a place with good natural light avoiding direct sunlight wherever possible, to avoid it fading over time. Alternatively use a spotlight or two to light your artwork.
