Behind The Lens...
Jack Thompson is an Award-Winning Photographer, Painter and Mixed Media Artist. As a relatively late-comer to professional art practice, Jack’s work soon found its place in various private collections around the world, and is celebrated for its profound and poetic beauty and timeless painterly style.
As portraitist first and foremost, exploring the space in which interaction, dialogue and exchange takes place between one another, our environment and our past, is primarily the inspiration and intentionality behind Jacks work. He takes simplicity of approach to this art practice – responding to, capturing and re-presenting something of the essence of an experience; what is seen and felt with honesty and sincerity.
Equally at home in Contemporary image making, Social Documentary, Theatre, Music, Landscape, Figurative and Fine Art, there is a common thread of timelessness, tenderness, poetry and humanity within his work, exploring the landscape of nostalgia, love, loneliness, memory, romanticism, tragedy, transcendence and beauty of the human condition.
